Skatepark Update
Portland Parks
& Recreation has been working with City Council to allow for a design-build
process rather than the more traditional design-bid-build process. This
will permit only qualified skatepark companies to design and build Portland's
next skatepark. This request will go before City Council on October 19th.
Then the next step is the Request for Proposal (RFP) to hire a design-build
skatepark contractor. PP&R hopes to have the RFP out in November. The
RFP and contractor selection process will take roughly six weeks. For more
information please contact Bryan Aptekar (503) 823-5594
Friends of
Trees Taking Planting Requests for N/NE Portland
The tree plantings
will take place January through March in various neighborhoods. Neighbors
can select what trees they want by looking through photos and tree profiles
at the organization's Website.
The coordinators will help select the appropriate site, arrange for permitting
and make plans to dig holes before the planting. Volunteers will
also leave care instructions. Home and business owners who participate
pay $35-75 per tree if the group has received a grant to subsidize the
cost of trees in their particular neighborhood. Also on Nov. 12 and 19,
Friends of Trees will host crew leader trainings. For more information
