A big problem in heavily populated areas is getting through
the maze of streets and their frequent traffic tie-ups.

Look up!  That air space up there is not congested,
the routes are direct and line of sight.

And modern technology has equipped aircraft with radar eyes and ears,
and electronic responses, that tell the pilot what is near enough to pose even a slight hazard.
(That's why with the all the buzzing around you see and hear up there, you never hear of the kind of collisions you hear about and see on the freeways.)
