The physics of the pendulum is overwhelmed by the physics of the String Thing. The string stubbornly has a mind of its own and loves to paint graceful three-dimensional patterns and tie mysterious knots. (The designer, Charles Sowers, designed an ingenious cut-off switch that gives the little engine a rest when the human waving The Thing too imaginatively asks it to do what even The String Thing cannot, or should not, do.) |
