Proposed Trail Group Standard for ditch treatment:  Compacted 3/4 minus gravel 3 feet minimum from edge of pavement to beginning of swale with 2% side slope, unless a 3 foot or wider surfaced or 3/4 minus compacted walking surface is provided on the outboard side of the swale.  In such cases, the width of the edge of pavement strip shall be on foot wide for bike safety. Trail Group requests that priority installation be given to Safe Routes to School or apparent safe routes to school where formally adopted safe routes are not yet identified, and to the Urban Trail system.  These priorities should be followed with those proposed by BES. Trail Group requests they be involved in the selection of all SW sites for treatment and in revising standards for those cases where the aboved standards cannot be met.
