For whom was the auditorium named at the Community Music Center?

David Beasley Campbell

Recital Hall

It's an old fire station, one of the city's first.  The fire engines were drawn by horses.  The horses were stabled back in the opposite corner of the building.  This wonderful building has served the citizens of Portland for over a century.  It continues to serve, now reinforced to help withstand the earthquake we know will eventually occur in this geological earthquake zone.  Today, it is staffed by professional musicians who guide budding musicians.  Their music can occasionally be heard by those who pass by and drop in.

About that earthquake: contact your Fire Bureau (503-823-4636) and inquire about the Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) program.
